Can't start 2002 new beetle tdi

Replaced battery two weeks ago. Drove car yesterday, no problem, Parked in driveway for 5 hours and went to start it and it wouldn't start. Acted like battery was completely dead. Tried jump starting it several times and it it's getting a little more juice (the engine turns over once) but not enough power to start the car. All the lights and such appear to be burning brightly. I have a 2002 new beetle 1.8 TDI
